About Solange Jain
My name is Solange Jain, and I am a New York City and Central New York-based photographer, currently completing a bachelor's degree of science in Photography from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, and a minor in sociology.
Originally from Queens, New York City, I am most passionate about documenting everyday life, sparking my interests in street photography and photojournalism. I have and continue to document stories of individuals who have something to teach the world. Prior to finding photography my dream was to be an illustrator, a passion for which I have kept the skills that I learned and implement into my photography when it comes to light, composition and color.
I have previously served as the head photo editor at the Daily Orange, a student-run independent newspaper in Syracuse, and as a reporting and photography intern at the Swampscott Tides in Swampscott, Massachusetts. Some of my biggest photographic inspirations include Helen Levitt, Arnold Newman and
Henri Cartier-Bresson.
